China student visa from Bangladesh: the embassy's X1 documents, the bank statement and the fee table

Unofficial summary · Sources checked

The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh publishes what it asks a student applicant for on its “Important Notices on Chinese Visa Application” page dated 12 September 2025. For an X1 application by a student of higher education, that page lists three things: Confirmation Form for Study in China (Form JW201 or JW202); the original copy of the school’s admission letter; and proof of support — scholarship recipients provide relevant scholarship proof, while self-funded applicants submit a bank statement showing at least USD 2,500 for each year of study in China. The same page lists no document in the X2 row: that row has a purpose description, but its documents cell is empty.

Every requirement, fee and processing time below is that one mission’s statement on the dated page named with it, not a rule applied by other Chinese embassies, consulates or visa application centres.

The X1 documents, row by row

The notice’s X1 row covers people who will study in China for a long period of more than 180 days. The documents listed there are:

  • Students of institutions of higher education 1. Confirmation Form for Study in China (Form JW201 or JW202); 2. The original copy of the school’s admission letter; 3. Applicants with scholarship support should provide relevant proof. Self-funded applicants shall submit a bank statement, and that bank statement should prove that the applicant has at least USD 2,500 each year for his or her study in China.
  • Primary and secondary school students The notice lists one document: Confirmation Form for Elementary Stage Students Study in China. That row does not list any other document.

The bank-statement amount is stated only in USD. The page does not give a Taka equivalent, and this article does not convert it.

The X2 row: an empty documents cell

The notice’s X2 row is headed “X2-Visa”. Its description reads “Personnel who will study in China for a short period (no more than 180 days)”. The documents cell beside that description is empty on the page, so this mission’s notice lists no document for X2. The notice does not say that no document is required; it simply leaves the cell unfilled. Where the page is silent, this article stays silent and does not bring in another mission’s list or common practice.

The national rule: Regulations, Article 7(11)

The Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners (State Council Decree No. 637) set the national baseline. Article 7(11) states that “To apply for the X1 visa, the applicant shall, in accordance with relevant provisions, submit the admission notice issued by the admission institution and the certification documents provided by the competent authority; to apply for the X2 visa, the applicant shall, in accordance with relevant provisions, submit such certification documents as the admission notice issued by the admission institution.”

Set against that rule, the embassy’s 12 September 2025 list is a mission-level specification, not the national text: it names Form JW201 or JW202 and the original admission letter for higher-education X1 cases, adds the self-funded bank-statement rule that the Regulations does not state, names one form for primary and secondary pupils, and leaves its X2 documents cell empty even though Article 7(11) still requires documents for X2.

Visa fees for Bangladesh passports (Taka)

Fees come from a separate embassy notice dated 7 January 2026. That notice says the mission will continue to reduce visa fees until 31 December 2026, and it publishes the reduced fees in Bangladesh Taka. The table below reproduces the Bangladesh-passport rows only. It is arranged by passport and number of entries, not by visa category: there is no separate X1 or X2 line.

Passport Entries Regular Delivery (the 4th working day) Express Delivery (the 3rd working day) Urgent Delivery (the 2nd working day)
Bangladesh passport Single Entry 2400 5100 6400
Bangladesh passport Double Entry 3600 6300 7600
Bangladesh passport 6 Months Multiple 4800 7500 8800
Bangladesh passport 12/24 months Multiple 7200 9900 11200

All amounts above are in Taka. The three delivery columns are stated by the notice as regular delivery on the 4th working day, express delivery on the 3rd working day, and urgent delivery on the 2nd working day. The 7 January 2026 fee notice states no other processing time. The embassy's 12 September 2025 notice, in its Section II, says that the result of the preliminary review will typically be provided within one working day after the online application is submitted, and that, from the day of passport submission to the Visa Center, regular processing usually takes 4 working days and express processing 3 working days. Because the table has no X1 or X2 row, this page cannot tell you which entry row applies to your course length; the notice does not say.

Questions people ask

How much must the bank statement show?

The embassy’s notice dated 12 September 2025 says the bank statement should prove that the applicant has at least USD 2,500 for each year of study in China. That sentence appears in the higher-education X1 row, for self-funded applicants; scholarship-supported applicants are asked for relevant scholarship proof instead. The amount is stated only in USD, and the page does not give a Taka equivalent.

Does the fee table have a separate X1 or X2 price?

No. The fee notice dated 7 January 2026 arranges the Taka table by passport and number of entries, with three delivery columns, and it contains no separate X1 or X2 row. The rows shown for Bangladesh passports are Single Entry, Double Entry, 6 Months Multiple and 12/24 months Multiple.

How fast is delivery under the reduced fee table?

The columns themselves state the times. Regular delivery is the 4th working day, express delivery is the 3rd working day, and urgent delivery is the 2nd working day. Those are the embassy’s stated delivery columns on the 7 January 2026 notice, and Section II of the 12 September 2025 notice describes the same 4-working-day regular and 3-working-day express processing.

Is the USD 2,500 requirement in the national Regulations?

No. Article 7(11) of the Regulations requires X1 applicants to submit the admission notice issued by the admission institution and certification documents provided by the competent authority, but it does not name any amount or currency. The USD 2,500 bank-statement requirement is stated in the Embassy’s own notice dated 12 September 2025; it does not appear in the Regulations or in the embassy's 7 January 2026 fee notice.

What documents does the embassy list for primary and secondary school applicants?

The embassy notice lists one document for that group: Confirmation Form for Elementary Stage Students Study in China. That row does not list an admission letter or a bank statement. The Regulations, Article 7(11) still requires an X1 applicant to submit the admission notice issued by the admission institution, but the embassy page does not say how that requirement is met for this group.
